ST MICHAELS are well on their way to an outright victory and top spot on the ladder.
The Saints rolled Wagga RSL for a measly 43 and were quick to grab first innings points at McPherson Oval on Saturday.
St Michaels are 6-170 in reply with Jordan Lawrence leading the charge with a swashbuckling 95.
Chase Grintell did the damage with the ball for St Michaels, taking 5-22 off 10 overs.
What made the figures even better was the fact his five scalps were all in Wagga RSL’s top six batsmen.
Joe Kenny was the only batsman from Wagga RSL to show much resistance as he worked his way to 18 before Fraser Noack bowled him.
Lawrence hit 95 before he caught by Brad McMillan off the bowling of Matt Parsell, who finished the day with 2-13 off three overs.
The Saints will resume batting next Saturday with a lead of 127, four wickets in hand and Grintell and Jared Koetz at the crease.
