AN ALERT pub worker watching his hotel’s CCTV monitors saw Wagga man Joseph Matthew Gaffney sell an ecstasy tablet for $50.
Police called to the Union Club Hotel by staff on February 8 searched Gaffney in a toilet.
When they picked up Gaffney’s board shorts and shook them a clear resealable plastic bag containing 37 ecstasy tablets fell out.
Gaffney told police he had bought 50 of the illegal tablets for $800 from a ‘mate’ in a public car park on Fitzhardinge Street the same day.
In Wagga District Court, 28-year-old Gaffney was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond without conviction after pleading guilty to deemed supply of ecstasy (37 tablets).
Four other charges – three other drug supply charges and one count of dealing with property suspected to be proceeds of crime ($75) were taken into account on sentence by the judge.
