The last unconfirmed sighting was at Donna Francis’s humble Hillston bakery in western Riverina.
Ms Francis was adamant she saw the Stoccos – and said they had a hankering for two coffees and, of all things, “a couple of salad rolls” at 6.30am.
“I had this gut feeling,” she said.
“I thought ‘oh my God, that’s the Stoccos’. I was concentrating on the father (Gino), whose beard was thinner than the pictures.”
Police swooped on the area but could not confirm the sighting.
Griffith police duty officer Inspector John Wadsworth thanked the community for their vigilance.
