TALENTED midfielder Shaun Flanigan has edged out key defender John Anstee in a thrilling finish to Wagga Tigers’ best and fairest.
Flanigan held a four-vote lead over Anstee heading into the final round of the vote count at Wagga Tigers’ presentation night on Saturday.
Anstee polled the first two best-on-grounds of the final round to hit the lead, before Flanigan grabbed the last one to win by one vote.
It was a fitting finish as the pair were clearly Tigers’ best.
Brad Graham was named Tigers’ most consistent, Angus Durnan was awarded most courageous and coaches award, and Pat Delaney most improved.
Jacob Osbeiston was named best utility, Lachlan Myers won best first year player, John Buchanan grabbed leading goalkicker, while Campbell Lovell and Anstee shared best in finals.
Josh Larwood won the reserve grade best and fairest and Sam Schirmer won the under 17s.
A grade netball best and fairest was Jess Allen, A reserve was Jemma Buchanan, B grade went to Sarah Crakanthorp and Maddison Kelly won C grade.
Paul Lucas was named clubperson of the year.
