Two of Wagga’s biggest musical names have bonded over a tragedy to produce a song that is racing up the iTunes charts.
Producer/songwriter Rahj Jordan and singer/guitarist Dane Kennedy are known for their own musical ventures but it is their collaboration that has people talking.
An introduction through a mutual friend was the beginning of a partnership that birthed a new duo that they called FEELS.
The name was chosen for the emotive inspiration behind their music.
Their first single, Jungle, is about the death of a close friend from a drug overdose and has already reached number nine on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart.
Jungle is based on a song by Mr Kennedy called One More Day, which chronicled his dad’s struggles after losing a friend.
Mr Jordan added his own lyrics and the song became a way to remember their mutual friend that died recently.
“This song represents him and the story of that night,” Mr Jordan said.
The boys admit they spent a lot of time in tears as they laid down vocals or filmed footage for the video clip.
“It seems easy to write about something so personal because the words some so easily but it’s hard to sing it without getting emotional,” Mr Kennedy said.
While the song is based on a true story, they both said it has appealed to a wider audience of people who have suffered their own losses.
Jungle is now available on iTunes, Spotify and Google Play.
The duo are expected to release an EP early next year.
