IF YOU go down to Collins Park on Sunday you’re in for a big surprise, as families descend on the space for the annual Teddy Bears Picnic.
Established by the Rotary Club of Murrumbidgee and now in its sixth year, the event has received growing support from locals, with around 60 families expected to attend the picnic this year.
Children are encouraged to bring along their favourite furry friend to enjoy a day filled with face painting, jumping castles, arts and craft, ball games and live performances from the mobile Play on Wheels. And there’s plenty to keep the young at heart entertained, with market stalls and a barbecue.
Proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, which supports seriously ill children and their families.
Last year the event raised $2,000 for the charity.
Rotary club president Jenny Lovekin said she was looking forward to the event, which will have something for everyone to enjoy.
“It’s always such a fun, exciting and beautiful day,” she said. “There’s so much for the children and adults to enjoy.”
