The last good memories that Amie St Clair’s friends have of her is of her smiling as she watched a softball carnival held in her honour on her birthday the day before she died.
The carnival has become a symbol of remembrance and one of the Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust’s most entertaining fundraisers.
Teams of all abilities dress up and play numerous games of softball to honour a girl who fought so bravely.
Sue Mohr is coach of Amie’s former team, the Blu J’s, and is the mother of Amie’s best friend.
“We have just continued it every year,” organiser Sue Mohr said.
“Softball was Amie’s passion, she just lived and breathed softball.”
The theme for this year’s softball fun day will be pink and black and it will be held on Amie’s birthday, November 8, from 8.30am.
Cost is $10 per person and each team is required to have 10 people – five men and five women – on the field.
