It was the Battle of the Border last weekend, this week it’s the Battle of the Murrumbidgee.
If they were handing out prizes for the best name of the competition, the Wagga Sloggers would have the competition well and truly covered, and looking at their squad, they should go well on the park too.
They come up against the equally impressive Murrumbidgee Rangers squad in a blockbuster clash at Robertson Oval.
I’ve travelled to the City of Good Sports many times over the years, and coached some excellent young cricketers in my time.
The last time I travelled to Wagga was in another capacity – I was part of a fundraising event alongside an Elvis impersonator, a little bit different.
I’ve always been a big fan of how passionate and enthusiastic the people of the Riverina are about their sport.
Families are very sports minded, and very supportive of their kids giving them every opportunity to be successful.
It pays off with the likes of Mark Taylor, Michael Slater and Geoff Lawson all coming from the region, as well as some young Riverina players making their way through the representative ranks today.
It’s a part of the world with great facilities and friendly people, and I’m looking forward to experiencing both this Sunday for the second weekend of the Plan B Regional Bash.

If you’re heading to the match this weekend, organise a Plan B Nightwatchman to come and pick you up.
A Nightwatchman is a great Plan B.
