A program targeted at school leavers has made 20-year-old Callum Daniher’s transition to work much simpler.
The Transition to Work program offered by Job Centre Australia assists school leavers with an intellectual disability to gain employment.
Mr Daniher participated in the program from February to June and excelled in resume writing, money skills, WHS policies and general life skills.
He is three months into his job at the Heinz factory.
“I love it out there,” he said.
Mr Daniher works in the production department filling orders of dry goods and assists in other departments when required.
Mr Daniher is sent orders for salt and sugar from the production team and he puts the products in bags, weighs them and packages them for distribution.
He is currently saving money to eventually be able to travel the world.
