A MAJOR arterial road outside Wagga was closed in both directions on Wednesday afternoon after a serious collision.
The accident occurred about 3.30pm on the Sturt Highway, on the Tarcutta Creek bridge.
Four people were treated for minor injuries in the two-car accident, while a 22-year-old male passenger was taken to hospital with non-life threatening head, limb and chest injuries.
There were seven people involved in the accident.
NSW Ambulance Wagga zone commander Eamon Purcell said the 22-year-old was trapped in the back seat of one of the vehicles, and needed to be cut free.
The Sturt Highway turn-off from the Hume Highway had been temporarily closed, and diversions were in place on Mates Gully Road, via Tarcutta.
