Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) management will extend its consultations with nursing managers over a proposed restructure that could place question marks over their future.

The NSW Nurses and Midwives Association had been up in arms with concerns the initial four-week period wasn't enough time to discuss the radical changes with staff. Consultations will now be extended by a further four weeks.
“We have been receiving some great feedback to date, including some alternate proposals, so we really want to take that on board and see how it might alter the model we are proposing,” MLHD operations director Brett Thompson said. Mr Thompson insisted the proposal had “never been about cost-cutting” and was aimed at improving how patients moved through the system.
