Old Griffith police station
ONE of Griffith’s most historic buildings, its old police station, has been the subject of a successful Aboriginal land claim.
The Ulong Street station, which has housed some of the nation’s most notorious Mafia figures, was this week granted to the Griffith Local Aboriginal Land Council.
The building has been vacant for nearly a decade and has seen intense public debate about its future, including suggestions from a local councillor it should be turned into a “Mafia museum”.
