Why are we playing with the lives of hard working people in regional communities?
The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) appears to have a “learn as we go” mindset, with no clear concept of the right balance between environmental and productive needs.
However, there is one thing that is quite evident - the Murray-Darling Basin Plan is not working.
We need people involved in the basin plan, including MDBA representatives and our MPs, to publicly address the reality.
They talk constantly about communication, yet no-one seems to want to publicly acknowledge one simple fact: the plan is not working.
It is not delivering the triple bottom line, with equal balance between the environment, the economy and socio-economic impacts, despite this being a clear instruction to the MDBA.
Because of the plan and some of its unintended consequences, there is insufficient water for important components of food production that are vital to our regional economies.
At the same time we are allocating millions of litres to the environment, yet we seem to be accepting this learn as we go mentality.
Will we continue learning as we go until we kill this industry and these communities, or will we have the combined strength and will to stand up and say “enough is enough”?
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
When good men do nothing they are no longer good.
Many have the mistaken notion that good is merely the absence of doing that which is wrong. Not so!
One is good not merely because he does no evil but because he is actively working for what is good. The good we instill in our sons and daughters is what we should be working for in society.
Today, there are preachers and Christians who refuse to meet the real foe, refute error and fight the enemy. Instead, they are blind to truth, they will not read or act according to the bible. The conduct of these so called Christians is shameful.
So when good men do nothing, we have the disintegration of the family. I see from various worrying developments over the course of several generations a deterioration in family values.
One is easy divorce, another is freely available contraception which frees up men's ability to be womanisers, and when there are consequences, as in conception. Then the next development is there for all to use - abortion.
In that most shocking of Australian states - Victoria, they abort babies up to nine months old by pulling them out backwards and then push sharp scissors into their necks and into their sculls.
In the USA, they sell and profit from unborn baby body parts for experimentation.
So abortion then becomes the norm for married couples to use, at government expense, to get rid of unwanted babies.
The government handouts also facilitate family destruction.
There is also rent assistance for the young to leave home, set up another costly accommodation and lose parental guidance, which they desperately need.
I do not blame one government or another - we are all responsible.
A decaying of family values brought about by several generations of parliamentarians that gradually have less of true Christian principles.
A breed of people have been produced now that demand personal satisfaction, no matter the cost.
Their chorus is - what about me?
Where will it end?
