ONE man’s passion for fire-fighting history is about to spawn a new tourist attraction in the Riverina.

Chris Berry, a retired fire-fighter from Coolamon, will put his fascinating collection of memorabilia on display in the soon-to-be-opened Coolamon Fire Museum.
The museum will be opened on Monday, October 5 by Fire and Rescue NSW commissioner Greg Mullins.
The museum has been years in the planning, Mr Berry’s wife, Joanne, said.
“We raised our children in Coolamon and we decided to come back and set up the museum to give us something to do in our retirement years,” Mrs Berry said.
“We want to share our collection with the community and tourists, and also help educate the schoolchildren on the way things used to be.”
The treasure trove of artefacts have been sourced from across the world.
The museum will be non-profit and rely solely on donations from the public, Mrs Berry said.
