A MAN who was tackled to the ground after a dramatic police pursuit involving a stolen taxi has been refused bail.
Eugene Matham, 35, briefly fronted Wagga Local Court on Monday, where his case was adjourned to September 30.
He is charged with two counts of police pursuit, assault with intent to take motor vehicle, receive property stolen outside NSW as well as two other driving offences.
Police said the taxi, which was reported stolen from a petrol station near Melbourne, came to an abrupt halt on the Hume Highway when the driver tried to carjack a Toyota Landcruiser.

Eyewitness video footage shows the driver jumps a fence before being tackled to the ground by police motorcyclists and what appears to be the driver of the Landcrusier. Police said the taxi was varying in speed from 80km/h to 180km/h.
