THE best in the business has been appointed to the Riverina League grand final.
Luke Olsen, Gene Hodgins and Tim Beard have been announced as the umpires for Riverina League grand final at Narrandera Sportsground on Sunday.
With more than 1000 games experience under their belt, Riverina Umpires Association have gone for experience in this year’s decider.
Tim Beard will umpire his 11th Riverina League senior grand final on Sunday, to go with his six in the Farrer League.
Beard admitted there is a certain style to umpiring a grand final.
“Our preparation during finals and the conversations we’ve been having is to allow the players to play football as much as we can, and to limit our involvement as much as we can,” Beard said.
“That would be our approach again for Sunday, to let them play football.”
The experienced Rick Firman OAM and Lee Barclay will be the grand final goal umpires.
