Floods still not enough water under the bridge
JUST how much water does David Lockhart want to flow down the Murrumbidgee?
He says it needs to be high to water the wetlands at Balranald at the Murray junction but then says: “There hasn't been a substantial flood where we are since 1993”.
I'm sorry, but if the floods we had in Wagga 2010 and 2012 didn't help, nothing will.

Climate con propaganda lacks real research
FINALLY, a promoter of the climate con has emanated from the woodwork (The Daily Advertiser, August 24).
As usual, we get more of the argument from authority and the singing of the song lines from the global warming hymn book.
Mr Couzens, you need to work out the difference between propaganda and fiction, and proper scientific research.
With your education, you know perfectly well that to be an effective debater you need to attack my arguments.
But, like all “climate change” promoters, you will not do so.
I desperately want you to attack my arguments.
This is the way to reveal the truth.
I am asked to “present such information that is not available to others”.
I point out that I have continually done so and even at times given references.
Mr Couzens, you need to do your own research.
It is incumbent upon him to explain; what is “climate change”.
However, I won’t hold my breath.
We see a reference to 2500 “experts” blah, blah!
I suggest a look at the Oregon Petition.
But I know he never will because he does not want to know about facts that blow holes in his belief system.
Perhaps a study of how those 2500 were appointed could lead to enlightenment?
Part of the answer lies in politics.
We get rhetoric about stabilising the world’s temperature; too late, it has already stabilised as there has been no increase (if anything, a slight decline) in the last 18 years, despite a significant increase in greenhouse gases.
A look at world history tells most of us that changes in temperatures are part of natural cycles.
A look at the temperature graph during our Holocene epoch gives clues.
Unfortunately for us as humans, the long term temperature trend is down, even with the accounting for the current mild warming, as we move towards the next ice age.
Please sort out propaganda and fiction, from facts.

Well-worn cliches carry great truths for pollies
THE ROYAL Commission drama reminds me of three well-known sayings.
1) "The standard you walk past is the standard you accept”.
Something has to be done about the union corruption and their stand over tactics.
2) “You can ignore the facts, but that doesn’t change them”.
Not much to gain for the honest union members if the dishonest ones manage to shoot the messenger.
3) “It is only a rort if you are not involved”.
Which is why some of our politicians (senior ones at that) and a lot of union bosses think the Royal Commission is a witch hunt.

Front page Wales story hits nail on the head
RE: YOUR front page article on July 29 “Face up to pain” with Kevin Wales.
All I can say is “hear, hear”.
