Albury had some extra motivation for its massive win over Leeton on Saturday.
They were doing it for the injured Liam Krautz.
Krautz is leaving the club at the end of the season and was looking to add to his 2013 premiership tally before damaging his quadriceps at training on Thursday night.
Coach Mick Raynes said an innocuous moment has cost the representative flanker his season before he moves away to complete his paramedic studies with the Air Force.
“The guys did a lot of that for him as he’s put in a really big year and there was a real heartfelt response for Liam before the game,” Raynes said. “To have his quad go in a nothing incident on Thursday night is just heartbreaking for him.”
