Forest Hill Community Preschool’s real life mascot, Jack, got extra hugs and treats as they celebrated National Dog Dag.
Man’s best friend was put up on a pedestal as dog-lovers celebrated their furry friend.
Jack, a 10-year-old border collie, comes to work every day with his owner, preschool director Jenny Osborne.
Ms Osborne adopted Jack 10 years ago and the two formed an instant bond.
The centre is also home to chickens, lambs, rabbits and birds.
“He’s become part of the centre,” she said.
“Out of all the animals we have, he’s the least risky.
Ms Osborne said National Dog Day is the ideal time to be grateful for our pets.
“They teach you unconditional love, empathy and respect, they are part of our world,” she said.
