After a nine-year hiatus, Rallysprint will return to Wagga on Saturday attracting some of the state’s best rally crews.
The Wagga and District Car Club have registered 26 entries from a maximum field size of 30.
V8 Commodore crew Russell Winks and Steve Hodgkin, leading both the Gold Cup and Silver Cup divisions in the ACT Rally Series have entered.
Evo III Lancer team Andrew and Ken Maurer, top placed in both outright and C5 class in the NSW Rallysprint Series, and the second-placed team, Jason Giddins and Justin Gunther will also be revving up for the event.
Organisers are overwhelmed by the racing community’s interest in the event.
“The club took a rather big gamble with the decision to resurrect this event” assistant clerk of course Michael Meyer said.
“But it’s been a decision that has been endorsed by the response of competitors and sponsors alike.”
Riverina Traffic Services are principle sponsors for the event which will play host to rounds of both the NSW Rallysprint Series and ACT Regional Rally Series.
The competition takes place east of Wagga on Mundarlo Road, starting at 10am.
