WAGGA man Joshua Clifton Chalmers has pleaded guilty to attempting to rob the Tolland Newsagency in March while armed with a 15cm knife.
“I’m desperate, I need the money,” 22-year-old Chalmers said when his demands to fill a plastic bag with money were rejected by one of shop owners.
Chalmers fled the shop empty-handed and was tracked down by police thanks to a witness who wrote down the number plate of a car she saw him getting into.
Chalmers will be sentenced in Wagga District Court later this year.
