Police searching an Ashmont home on Tuesday afternoon allegedly discovered a homemade gun made from a building tool and a DIY cattle prod.
A search warrant was executed on the Ashmont residence just after 2pm and resulted in officers seizing a number of weapons.
While at the home, police spoke with a 20-year-old man until the 45-year-old owner of the premises returned a short time later.
The search of the home commenced and by the end of it, officers had discovered a shortened double-barrelled shotgun, a barrel for a different firearm, a trigger mechanism and ammunition.
A homemade firearm, made from an undisclosed building tool, other devices and a homemade cattle-prod type device were also located and seized.
The home owner was interviewed in relation to the items that were located and those that appeared to be homemade before being released pending further inquiries.
The seized goods will undergo forensic examination.
