After taking all before them last season, Griffith’s season came to a premature end in the first week of finals.
The Blacks had been struggling for momentum coming into the elimination final clash with Waratahs due to injuries but co-coach Nick Gleeson didn’t think that was his team’s problem – he thought not getting the rub of the green hurt his team.
“A few calls didn’t go our way at that’s what it came down to in the end,” Gleeson said. “A few calls go the other way and we win by a couple of tries but they took advantage of the opportunities they got and that’s what it came down to.”
Two forward pass decisions raised the ire of the forward, including a pass he threw that would have resulted in a try.
