General Birdwood went through the lines this morning on a tour of inspection. Later on in the day Gen Walker did his usual routine. It is rumoured in the Battalion that we are likely to be relieved in a fortnight.
One of our own guns put an eighteen pound shell just over where I was at the phone.
We lost about five men today. One of the lads was using a Turkish rifle and it exploded in his hands blowing his thumb and one finger off. Feel very tired.
