A GRIFFITH woman who hoped to find love on reality TV has instead been left red-faced.
The artist and former PA made a shock exit from The Bachelor on Thursday night after Sam's trick date with three women backfired spectacularly.
“We felt pretty crap. It was awful,” she said.
Until then, Sam's outings had reflected the candlelit, dry ice, Bold and the Beautiful fantasy the show's producers thought women wanted. There was sailboating, bridge-top kissing and expensive dinners.
So naturally, Ms Gugliemino expected something special when she got picked for a coveted single date.
Instead, three girls were run, one-by-one, through a series of unfortunate events starting with a flat tyre on the limo and a driver who was unable to change it. At the restaurant, the food was ‘gross’ including fried crickets and duck tongues and then the waitress started hitting on Sam. It was a disaster. Multiplied by three.
Sam subjected his chosen girls – Jacinda, Ebru and Bec – to what he called his “groundhog date” to test whether they'd turn into high-maintenance princesses. The trio took it all in good humour, but everything changed when they returned to the mansion and the identical dates were discovered.
“You have to tell the girls about your date (when you return),” Ms Gugliemino toldFairfax Media.
After receiving a really lovely letter, Ms Gugliemino found out he sent the same letter to two other people.
“If a guy did this to me in real life, I would have legged it straight away. So it made sense to leave,” she said. “Sam's a good guy. He didn't mean it. It just came off pretty badly.”
The experience was in the past now, with Ms Gugliemino saying she felt stronger for the experience.
“I left my job as a PA ... I've gone back to my art, which I was always scared to do,” she said.
“I'm getting lots of work, which is fantastic.
“Doing everything that you're scared to do, I've committed to doing now. The show did that for me. It triggered something.”
