GANMAIN-Grong Grong-Matong will contest the three-game suspension issued to their captain Lachlan Steward.
Steward was charged with rough conduct on Wagga Tigers’ Ben Farrell after AFL Riverina’s match review panel inspected footage of the incident.
The decision to contest the charge allows Steward to play the Lions’ final game of the season against Colliingullie-Glenfield Park on Saturday.
AFL Riverina will set up a tribunal hearing for sometime next week, pending any reports over this coming weekend.
Steward could have accepted a two-game suspension with an early guilty plea but will now fight the charge at the independent tribunal.
