Ag College are looking to end the season on a high when they host Griffith at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
Neither team has won a game since the competition split five weeks ago but Aggies have the chance to hurt the Blacks’ finals campaign.
Griffith will qualify for the finals no matter the result but coach Nick McCarthy is looking for one final effort from the university team.
After a 101-point thrashing by Albury, Ag College just went down late to Leeton last week and McCarthy is looking for the team to show the same amount of heart this week.
“I don’t think the end result was reflected the game,” McCarthy said. “I was really proud of the effort of the young guys who stepped into the void left by six regular first grade forwards.”
Trailing by four late in the game, two late tries blew out the scoreline and McCarthy is looking for his team to stand up again.
“We are excited for this weekend, and without getting the result we righted a fair few of the wrongs from the game against Albury,” he said.
“We had an intensity level you need to be at to play first grade.”
Ag College were without the majority of its forward pack last week but Ben Leaper, Thomas Macleay, Tom Dunstan, Andrew Lean and Chris Leaper will all return to take on the Blacks.
After impressing, second rower Jack McIntosh keeps his spot in the team.
