WAGGA swimmer Annabella Storer has swept a state-level competition, acquiring eight medals from nine events at the ACT Short Course Championships on the weekend.
Storer, 11, broke three meet records including the 50m and 100m freestyle and the 100m butterfly at the Australian Institute of Sport.
“To get a meet record is pretty awesome, one of those records was 30 years old,” swim coach Barb Blondinau said.
“She’s right up there, it was a very competitive meet, there were a lot Sydney clubs there.”
Storer recorded a 10 second personal best at the last event of the meet, the 400m freestyle, in good stead as she prepares for nationals in November.
After a weekend stacked with competitive swimming Storer was up bright and early for training on Monday.
“I said, ‘take tomorrow off,’ she looked at me and said, ‘I’ll see you in the morning,’” Blondinau said.
“She knows that’s what it takes to be the best.”
Abbey Senior and Callum Gardiner also had podium finishes in Canberra.
Meg Senior didn’t compete due to a broken arm.
