What if there was a way you could lose heaps of weight without spending hours in the gym or eating nothing but kale?
It sounds too goo to be true but hypnotherapist James Duncan is used to hearing from naysayers.
But he believes his results speak for themselves.
Luke Adams, 32, spends 14 to 15 hours a day driving a truck and when he is at home in Tumut he prefers to spend time with his young family.
After visiting Mr Duncan two months ago, Mr Adams has lost more than 30 kilograms without exercising.
“Everyone tries diets over time but I found it difficult with my occupation,” he said.
Mr Duncan uses hypnotherapy to enter the sub conscious mind to find the things that triggers stress in a person, which he believes contributes to weight gain.
He said that by addressing these issues, stress will decrease and the weight will fall off.
Mr Adams has been adhering to a strict diet and is happy with his progress.
“I was 30 kilograms heavier 50 days ago,” he said.
“To get these sort of results otherwise, I don’t know what I would have had to do.”
Mr Duncan is convinced that there is a relationship between illness and stress and if you eliminate the stress, the illness goes away.
“It’s an extremely controversial line,” he said.
“What makes this so extraordinary is that it’s basically doing the opposite of what everyone else is telling you.”
And Mr Duncan might not even believe it himself if his clients were not showing such an improvement.
Mr Duncan tested the method on himself and over the past 12 months has lost about 45 kilograms.
“I used myself as a guinea pig,” he said.
“I can give experience first hand and help them avoid the pitfalls I’ve succumbed to.”
Mr Duncan was a prominent businessman before he became a hypnotherapist in 2010.
