If YOU have ever taken a look at the mug shots uploaded to the Wagga police Facebook page, then you can imagine the surprise one XPT passenger got when he looked up the same page on his phone and saw the face of a wanted man sitting across from him.
The passenger visited the page of Wagga police while on the night train to Sydney on July 11.
He read an appeal for help from the public to find 18-year-old Domanic Butler, wanted by the virtue of an arrest warrant, and saw a photo of the teenager.
Upon looking up from the page, the passenger spotted Butler sitting with a female friend across the carriage from him.
The passenger snapped a couple of pictures and fired them, and a number of messages, off to police, raising the alarm.
By the time the train arrived at Cootamundra, police were waiting. Butler appeared in Wagga Local Court by audiovisual link to a jail on Wednesday charged over two break-ins. His case was adjourned to August 5.
