Jarryd Byrne and Ash Pollard have emerged as clear front runners after one episode of Dancing With The Stars.
The couple performed first on the show’s premiere episode with an energetic jive routine for a score of 32 out of 40 and equal second place on the leader board.
“We were very happy with how it came together,” Byrne said.
“Our intention was to come out strong … but if you start getting 9s or 10s right away, what becomes difficult is to build on that.”
Byrne said performing first left the couple very little time to settle into the rhythm of the show but they managed to execute their 1950s-inspired routine to Dear Future Husband without too many hiccups.

Byrne said Pollard was a mixed bag of emotions but was happy with her effort after watching the footage again Monday morning.
“She’s a perfectionist so she’ll want to improve,” he said.
The judges praised the routine and said Byrne won the dancing lottery by landing Pollard as his partner.
They were advised by the judges to show noticeable improvement otherwise they would run the risk of the audience becoming complacent with their abilities and therefore not voting.
Byrne cited Olympic Gold medallist Matthew Mitcham as one to watch.
He said television presenter Larry Emdur has a huge personality that the audience will love and that Paralympic champion Kelly Cartwright’s story is so inspiring that even he got a little emotional during her contemporary routine.
Contestants will recreate their most memorable moments through dance for next week’s show and Byrne said their performance will be sexy and energetic.
