CHARLES Sturt University’s Aussie Rules team was gutted when the Farrer League’s wooden-spoon contenders flogged them 17.9 (111) to 9.9 (63) last Saturday.
Barellan was relentless according to CSU coach Ash Weldon.
“We came into the game thinking we would win, but the intensity was there from the start and it caught us unaware,” Weldon said.
The game fell over uni break and most key players had returned from holidays for the match, amplifying frustrations.
Weldon knew they’d arrived unprepared.
“We hadn’t trained as a group for a few weeks,” he said.
Players have trained twice this week preparing for the clash against Marrar on Saturday.
Marrar gave The Rock-Yerong Creek a run for their money last week, losing by just eight points.
“We have to make sure we don’t fade out,” Weldon said.
