IN WOMEN’S soccer, Junee emerged victorious from a hard-fought match against Tolland on Sunday
Tolland goalkeeper Tara Humphries warded off 30 shots on goal but Junee’s Abby Foley had the last laugh, scoring the sole goal of the match.
Junee coach Craig Duncan could not have been happier with the build up.
“We kept the ball on the ground and worked it around as much as possible,” Duncan said.
“Our target rate was fairly low at 48 per cent, we’ve got to practice to get it up to 75 per cent.”
Duncan was pleased to get one-up on Tolland following a 1-0 loss in round two, and a 1-1 draw in round seven.
“This time we played a little bit more on the ground rather than trying to play in the air,” Duncan said.
Junee standout players Kara Hancock, Foley, Abby Duncan and Susanne Waia were critical in the team’s win.
