BREAST cancer has rocked North Wagga football club, compelling one of its members to plan a counter-attack.
A personal tragedy inspired Pink Ladies Day coordinator Michael Barnes to increase awareness of the disease.
“We have had ladies involved with club who have died, and we have ones that have beaten it and some who are still fighting it,” Barnes said.
The Saints annual fundraiser takes place at McPherson Oval on Saturday.
Since 2011 the club has raised over $53,000 for the Cancer Council.
Netball players, supporters, guests, and club sponsors will gather to watch the first grade game against East-Wagga Kooringal, treated to canapes and refreshments served by the men.
The ground will be cased in pink; pink socks, netballs, bibs, footballs and socks.
Following ladies day the one-off jerseys will be auctioned and a dinner will be held at the club rooms.
Funds raised will go towards increasing local patient support, research, awareness and prevention.
