A 19-month-old boy has died after being pulled from a Griffith pool on Monday.
The little boy was found unconscious in his family’s Benerembah swimming pool around 10.30am on Monday.
He was rushed to Griffith Base Hospital but could not be revived.
The incident is under investigation by Griffith Local Area Command officers, who will prepare a brief of evidence for the coroner.
An average of 11 children under the age of five drown in NSW every year, with another 62 hospitalised for near-drowning.
Children under five have the highest mortality rate out of any age group. More than 70 per cent of drowning deaths occur in swimming pools, NSW Police said in a statement.
More to come.
