Our natural reaction when the nights get cooler is to put on more clothes or snuggle under a blanket.
This is not an option for many of Wagga’s homeless or those struggling financially.
The Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul will run the Winter Warmth Appeal this Sunday and are asking for residents to give generously.
Donations of good quality blankets, winter clothes for children and adults and bedding are required.
“Just think, if you were sleeping rough, what would make you feel comfortable?” Salvation Army officer Bindy Lupis said.
Residents with items to donate can call members of Wagga Rotary on July 5 on 6923 4666 and arrange for items to be picked up between 9am and 1pm.
Or items can be dropped into the Elders building between 8.30am and 12.30pm.
