Christine Bolton
SHE’S an experienced pilot, a multi-award winning writer, she lives on a catamaran on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, and she’s coming to speak at Wagga Wagga City Library.
Helene Young writes the kind of books that leap off the library’s shelves.
Her fifth novel, Safe Harbour, was voted Australia’s 2014 Favourite Romantic Suspense Novel – the fourth time Helen has won the award – and in 2011 and 2012 she took home “The Ruby”, the Romance Writers of Australia award for Romantic Book of the Year.
Every day, more readers in and around Wagga delight in her tales of passion, suspense and danger, all set in exotic locales.

In Helene’s latest work, Northern Heat, Dr Kristy Dark runs away from a family tragedy, to start her life again with her daughter Abby in far north Queensland’s Cooktown.
But Abby’s new sports coach is the attractive Conor, who enjoys flirting with Dr Dark, and is not really who he seems to be. In the midst of all this tension, a severe cyclone appears on the horizon.
Aside from her talents as a novelist, Helene Young has worked in aviation for more than 25 years, and has recently taken leave from her role as a Regional Flying Manager to sail about the Coral Sea with her husband on their catamaran, Roo Bin Esque.
Helene will speak about her life, her writings, and her extraordinary accomplishments as a pilot, at Wagga City Library’s Community Learning Space on Friday, June 12 at 5pm.
Book signings are available and refreshments are provided, but you’ll definitely need to book a place! Just call 6926 9700 or email wcl@wagga.nsw.gov.au.
