Social media was set alight Saturday night after reports a 4.0 quake had shaken the town, with tremors felt as far away as Wagga.

However, a GA spokesman said a “big and very deep” earthquake near Japan made it appear as if there were local effects.
GA withdrew the reading.
Phillip Walsh, of the Ganmain Hotel, said it was a normal Saturday night in the town.
