
A FUNERAL service will be held on Friday for Colin Bell, Wagga’s oldest World War II veteran who died on Monday aged 99.
Mr Bell had the honour of igniting Wagga’s new eternal flame in the Victory Memorial Gardens on February 24.
In the Second World War, Mr Bell served in New Guinea as a driver and as a trainer in the Northern Territory.
He moved to Wagga 17 years ago and most recently was a resident of the RSL Remembrance Village.
Mr Bell is the father of the Wagga RSL Club’s general manager, Andrew Bell.
A Service of Thanksgiving for Colin Bell will be held in St Paul’s Anglican Church, Turvey Park, at 2pm.
