George and May Bruce love all things royal family.
Together, they head up the Riverina branch of Australians for a Constitutional Monarchy.
They believe the newborn princess will spark a new wave of enthusiasm for the monarchy as the heat of the 2001 republic debate is relegated to the history books.
“It makes a pigeon pair,” Mr Bruce said of the new royal baby. “To me, it has balanced the family.”
Toasting the newborn, Mrs Bruce said she felt a “real bond” with the Queen because they were nearly the same age.
“Kate and Will have really done so much for the monarchy. People adore them. They’ve really brought it forward in the public’s eyes,” she said.
The duo said predicting the baby’s name was “anyone’s guess”.
