COOLAMON were down to 17 fit men but battled out a gusty one-point win over Narrandera at Narrandera Sportsground on Saturday.
The Hoppers were left without any bench rotations in the second half but limped over the line, 13.6 (84) to 11.17 (83).
While there is no doubt Coolamon was brave, the Eagles threw away any chance of victory through being wasteful in front of goal.
The Eagles came from 29 points down at the final break but could not reel the Hoppers in.
Coolamon coach Matt Hard was proud of his men.
“We were down three players before half-time, we had no rotations from halfway through the second quarter so to hang on and fight to win was really good,” Hard said.
“Obviously they were inaccurate and whatever but to walk away with four points I’m really happy.”
Jamie Maddox led from the front superbly, and was well supported by Pete McGrath, Hayden Bradley and Luke Redfern.
