VETERAN South Coast trainer Bede Murray got out of a hospital bed to enjoy another Wagga Gold Cup carnival winner on Thursday.
Murray has been travelling to the Wagga carnival for more than 40 years and was determined not to miss the two big days this year.
Murray was in St George Hospital early this week but made sure he was at Wagga to see Isle Be Ready ($3.80) win the Royans Wagga Benchmark 65 Handicap (1600m).
“I love the carnival, it’s great to be here,” Murray said.
“It was a rough trip over but we’re here.”
Murray labelled the Wagga carnival as the best around.
“It’s a carnival where you always get here Monday and everywhere you go everyone is talking racing, there is plenty of visitors, locals and just fantastic people.
“Albury and Grafton are very good carnivals as well but over the two days this is the best.”
