A SWARM of kids followed Country players wherever they went at the Trent Barrett Shield on Thursday and Josh Jackson was one of the stars they wanted to see the most.
After playing two Tests for Australia last season, Jackson will play in the third City-Country game on Sunday and can’t wait to run out in front of a sell out Wagga crowd.
The second rower was surprised by not only the size of Wagga, but of the strength of rugby league in the region.
“It’s a big rugby league heartland,” Jackson said.
“I haven’t spent much time out here, but you can tell they love their league out here and the kids have big smiles on their faces and that’s what it’s all about.”
The game also offers a unique opportunity for Jackson to come up against teammate David Klemmer for the first time in the game.
“I know big Dave Klemmer will be fired up as he hasn’t played in a couple of weeks so I’m looking forward to that,” Jackson said.
“You can tell by the size of him he’s not an easy man to handle but it’s always good healthy competition.”
