Simone Dowding said the continuing bonds of friendship formed with Joe Williams while filming The Enemy Within is greater than any prize she could receive for the finished product.
Mrs Dowding’s film on Mr Williams’s struggles with depression was named last year’s Wagga Waggafest People’s Choice winner.
“It’s been amazing watching his grow as a person,” she said.
The film received an overwhelming response from the public and has attracted more than 7000 views.
Mrs Dowding wanted to break down the stigma surrounding depression and suicide and said the film making process is the ideal way to generate community engagement.
Entries are now open for 2015 Wagga Waggafest and details are available on Wagga City Council’s website.
