MARRAR are set to welcome back key duo Clint Taylor and Brad Turner for Friday night’s Anzac Challenge against arch-rival The Rock-Yerong Creek.
The two teams will meet for the annual feature of the Farrer League calendar and the Bombers are set to be boosted by the return of two of their best players for the game at Robertson Oval.
Taylor and Turner both underwent off-season surgery but are expected to come into Marrar’s team as they look to find some form against the red-hot Magpies.
Both teams were tipped to be premiership contenders this season and TRYC have certainly lived up to the billing with two impressive victories to start the year.
Marrar have a win and a loss to their name but coach Nic Casey hopes the return of his two stars can help the Bombers get their season going.
“Clint’s 100 per cent right and Brad should be right to go after training (Thursday night),” Casey said.
“That’s massive for us, you build a side around blokes like Clint Taylor and Brad Turner.”
Taylor coached the Bombers for the past two seasons and won the 2013 Gerald Clear Medal from centre-half-back.
Turner has been Marrar’s most dangerous forward in recent times with 104 goals over the past three seasons.
Casey knows their inclusion is not the only answer for the Bombers.
“Our key focus is what we pride ourselves on, and what we got smashed in last weekend, winning the footy,” he said.
“If you’re not winning the footy then you’re up against it.”
Casey got good news this week and is only expected to miss about three weeks with his injured knee.
Brad Langtry and Jake Hindmarsh are also out for a similar period with their respective injuries.
Casey, in his first season at Marrar, is thrilled to be part of such a special occasion.
“It’s an honour to play on a day like this," Casey said.
“We all look forward to it and all the boys have spoken about how much they’ve enjoyed the occasion over the last five or six years, it’s a real honour.”
TRYC defender Ted Fellows missed this occasion last year and is looking forward to taking part.
“It's pretty exciting to play an Anzac game,” he said.
“It’s a great atmosphere and there should be a pretty good crowd under lights.”
TRYC will go in with an unchanged line-up.
Casey said stopping the Magpies’ all-star forward line will be a strong focus.
