OLD Junee resident Cath Dietrich has received an award at this year’s Royal Easter Show for top-class original wearable art.
Ms Dietrich, 18, took out the award for a jacket, originally crafted as her major work for her HSC textiles class last year, she submitted that she based around a carnival theme.
“My nan actually suggested to put it in the show so that everyone could get to see it,” she said.
“I was a bit disappointed I didn’t get to go and see it myself, but really happy with the outcome.”
HSC markers were a fan of the jacket too, grading it at 95 per cent last year.
Ms Dietrich, who has moved to Canberra this year to study, said a passion for “making and selling things” helped to inspire her, along with trying out new crafting techniques.
