FOOTBALL Wagga has secured Cootamundra talent Dylan Berkrey to play for the Wagga City Wanderers in 2015.
Berkrey was head-hunted for the team’s debut season and will be playing in the State League Two competition.
More than anything, Berkrey wants a challenging season.
“I’ve been playing a pretty good level in Wollongong, want to keep on playing at a good competitive level,” he said.
The Wanderers are hungry to earn their stripes to convince supporters that it’s in Football Wagga’s interests to enter a team in the state league.
“The hype’s building about it, if we’re successful people will be more inclined to get behind it,” Berkrey said.
Berkery is confident the Wanderers are in with a shot, as the team is packed with “quality” and they have undergone a rigorous training regime over past months; three sessions per week.
“I think we can be up there and be one of the good contenders for the competition,” he said.
The Wanderers encounter their first FFA Cup game against Loftus in less than two weeks.
Berkrey and his team members have been dual registered and he may be making a few cameo appearances for Cootamundra Strikers in 2015.
