TRIATHLON
WAGGA triathletes Jared Kahlefeldt and Ryan Miller have produced personal bests performances to spearhead the city's charge at the Huskisson Triathlon.
Kahlefeldt managed to beat one of the professional triathletes home to claim the 25-29 age group victory in the long-course event on Sunday.
He was the first 'age group' triathlete across the line and finished 14th overall of more than 1200 male competitors.
Miller claimed his first age group win when he claimed the 30-34 years division.
Jenny Hart also did the Wagga contingent proud with a third-placed finish in her age group.
The majority of the Wagga group used the Husxy Triathlon Festival as their major hit-out before taking on the Port Macquarie Ironman on May 3.
"There's 10 weeks until Port," Kahlefeldt said.
"I'm not sure yet whether we'll be able to find a lead up race yet or not.
"Ideally you would like to find something about three or four weeks out.
"Now we get stuck into training."
Kahlefeldt completed the Huskisson long course in a time of three hours, 58 minutes and 12 seconds.
The course consisted of a two kilometre swim, 83km cycle and 20km run.
The Port Macquarie Ironman will see a jump to 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run.
Others from Wagga to perform strongly at Huskisson was Angas Swann (6th 30-34 years), Marcus Smith (7th 40-44 years) and Scott Donaldson (10th 35-39 years).
