William has held the pole position for the past five years, while Charlotte makes its debut in the No.1 spot, according to the NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages.
Melissa and Adam Shephard's son Oliver, who was born in June, shares his name with 542 other NSW boys born this year.
"We didn't have it picked until the last few weeks before he was born," Melissa said.
"We just saw it written down somewhere and liked it.
"It had to go with Norman (Oliver's middle name.)
"That was the prerequisite.
"It wasn't until about a month later we realised it was one of the more popular names of the year."
So popular in fact, it was ranked at number two on the registry's list.
The extended Shephard family's christian names were also part of the equation.
"Adam has a very big family and none of them are named Oliver, so that was a consideration," Melissa said.
"While trying to be original, we weren't that original."
Alicia and Anthony McCracken were searching for a "manly" name when they were choosing for their first son, Brock, which filled first place for the most popular boys name in The Daily Advertiser's birth notices of 2013.
"We both mentioned it and liked it and didn't really consider it again until a couple of weeks before he was due," Alicia said.
Charlie, Darcy, Isaac, Jacob, Mason and Tom shared the second most popular slot in this paper's notices, while the most popular name for girls was Evie, followed by Ivy in second position.
Matilda and Georgie shared third place.
