The development application is yet to be lodged for the Wuai Wholesale International Trade Centre, proposed for Copland Street, but mayor Rod Kendall said proponents were planning a visit in the coming weeks.
He said the taskforce would be there to identify any issues and come up with solutions when they met.
And that proactive attitude could make a difference with Wuai Group representative Zhaoxiang Jin saying on his December visit that local government support was crucial.
"The role of the taskforce is to provide a proactive role in facilitating and advocating for the development of the proposed Wuai Wholesale International Trade Centre in our city," Cr Kendall said.
"There are many factors that need to be considered and our task will be to work through all identifiable issues and identify solutions so that this project passes the fundamental test.
"Wagga has a lot of positive attributes to offer a development of this size, including its strategic location relative to the population centres of Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and its prime location on major transport routes."
The development is a 200,000 square-metre trade centre which will display goods from across the globe.
It is effectively a permanent trade expo where businesses from Australia and abroad can come and view items and place large-scale orders.
The multi-storey complex is planned to have 3750 stalls available to domestic and international companies to display their goods.
It has been a development Member for Wagga Daryl Maguire has been in discussions for years to bring to the city.
